ABOUT OUR TOURS

Each tour consists of 1 prep day, 5 days, and 4 nights of detail-oriented instruction within a small group.
We teach techniques to successfully chase exhilarating storms and capture breathtaking scenes.
An average morning will be spent:
  • Monitoring weather
  • Creating daily strategies
  • Editing images and time lapse sequences
An average 4-6 hours per day are spent on the road:
  • Covering methods to track storms
  • How to safely capture stunning scenes
  • Set up and capture & create time lapse
We bring our attendees to locations that are photogenic landscapes, allowing great potential for stunning photography and time lapse videos.
Our mission is to educate and safely guide you to unlock the storm chaser within.

SAFETY

Above all, your safety is our number one goal when it comes to severe weather tours.  In our opinion, the best photogenic vantage point is being outside and away from the storm.  From this distance we can watch and observe the storms grow and form magnificent structure while remaining at a safe distance and dry most of the time.

Tour drivers are experienced in driving in a variety of severe weather environments.  We practice defensive driving and abide by all traffic laws and that means you should too.  We don't tolerate any kind of littering at all.  We are also happy to say that the driver will be driving and that is all.  The passenger will be doing all of the navigating and weather monitoring.  We think it's very important to remain hands free of devices while driving and we want you to know that.  We do not take risks as we want this to be an enjoyable and safe experience for you.

Each tour staff member is aed/cpr/first-aid certified.  Chase vehicles will have well equipped first-aid kits.  With all that said, we also expect that you'll be safe and responsible as well.  The locations we will visit are very dry and hot.  Dehydration can be a concern, so please be sure you are conscious about the amount of fluid you are consuming while on tour.

TOUR SCHEDULE

Day 1 - PREP DAY
Please plan to arrive at the hotel a day early.  That's right!  You'll want to arrive one day before the tour starts.  Don't fret, we'll be taking care of your hotel on the prep night as well.  Some time will be needed to double check all your gear, charge batteries and get a good night’s sleep - you’re going to need it.

DAY 2 - INTRO & FIRST CHASE
Our first morning will be spent with a tour introduction and a weather briefing.  Maps, topography maps, weather models, and other forecasting data will be explained and observed as we look at the daily weather and develop locations and strategies for our storm chase.
We'll break for lunch, then load up into the chase vehicle for our first outing.  On occasion, we'll have to leave earlier and grab lunch on the go.  We’ll target locations with great foreground possibilities against stormy backdrops. While in field, pro photography and time lapse techniques will be taught.

DAYS 3, 4, 5 - PHOTO PROCESSING AND THE CHASE
The next three days will follow the same schedule of morning weather briefings, editing images & time lapse, and then hitting the road to capture the turbulent excitement.  Expect challenging and artistic growth during the next few days as your photo technique gets more advanced.  At the same time, the exhilaration of seeing amazing weather phenomena will be unforgettable.

DAY 6 - DEPARTURE
If time allows, we'll work on some photo editing in the morning.  We'll plan for most of the day to be dedicated to travel.
